Here you can see the on-the-ground post set up by UN troops on the major highway running in front of the entrance to the Martissant St. Bernadette sports complex a good block away to the north. This patrol surveys the traffic going into the city. The Martissant police station is located back to the north (left of picture) several blocks. It is possible that the police entered the sports complex without even being seen by the UN soldiers. Some eyewitnesses report that the police did notify the UN soldiers that they were going to the stadium to quell a fracas. What the UN knew, when, and what they could have done during the massacre are all questions being posed to the UN authorities as part of the independent investigation by the community-based justice program facilitated by AUMOHD.
