A view from a wall behind the Aristide-built modern
high school, now ransacked and idle, looking down onto a square in Gran
Ravin. The ocean and sea level sections of Port-Au-Prince are in the distance.
The St. Bernadette sports complex is in the Martissant section of PAP,
down on the sea level section below Gran Ravin. The two communities were
involved in the "Peace" Soccer match held on Aug. 20 during
which the first massacre occurred. On Sunday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. as threatened
by the police during the soccer massacre, the police and attachés
appeared here in Gran Ravin and proceeded up behind this high school to
drag residents out of four homes which they then torched. Afterward several
other people were hacked to death by machetes or shot by police. The victims
were accused of being Lavalas scum, "Rat pa caca" Other homes
were vandalized and a church was riddled with bullets. See other
