A week before, Aug. 27th, the community leaders and massacre witnesses and victims were still in great fear of another attack by the police and attachés. As they met with human rights investigators and a team from the UN civilian police and human rights office, a report was passed on that a contingent of Haitian police was approaching the area where the meeting was taking place. The UN civilian police secured the meeting place and posted themselves as guards to the entrance and were prepared to confront the police. They also called in a back-up UN troop patrol. The confrontation didn't happen, but the community leaders asked for some kind of protection. On Sept. 2 a contingent of Sri Lankan troops met the community leaders as they met to make further plans to pursue justice in the massacre matter.
