Here is the tank/truck used as a traffic surveillance post at an intersection on the main highway that runs in front of the St. Bernadette sports complex. This post is a good block from the entrance to the sports complex. The church, not the sports complex, is on the main highway and is able to be seen from this UN post. Normally the guard on duty is facing away from the church and looking at the intersection. Another UN post on the ground on the highway is manned by several soldiers also looking away from the church. Whether the shots that were fired by the police during the massacre could have been heard by the UN troops is another question to be answered in the ongoing investigation. |
